Old Jewish tradition-
The guy goes to the house of the lady and greets the father. He shows the father how he would be able to provide for his daughter. He pronounces his love for her and asks for her fathers blessing. He pays the father a sum of thanks out of his devotion for the girl. Then the guy goes (down the hall) where the woman is preparing a meal and Knocks. If she opens the door that means she accepts.
They eat then partake of wine together, this is a meal that symbolizes them being betrothed. They then take a ceremonial bath, and the man gives the woman gifts to show his love of which she uses to adorne herself (jewelry & makeup). These gifts are to remind her of their covenant.
The man goes away and prepares a place (honeymoon suite). Typicaly back to his fathers house, where he would prepare a place, it would usually be an extention to his Fathers place.
People may ask the groom when are you going to get her (pick her up). He would typicaly say: I don't know, only my father knows because the Father would give permission to the Son when all was ready.
When the time came, the guy would go to the womans house and get her (blow a trumpet outside her house) and her job was to be ready and exspecting. They would then go to this place prepared and spend 7 days together.
they would emerge the 8th day (8- new beginnings) and have a wedding feast.
Christ pays the great price of laying down his life for us (John 10). Rev. 3:20 he stands at the door and knocks. We recieve gifts of the Holy Spirit (truth/the Word) that we embrace in our faith as we wait for his return Isaiah 61:10 /Christ goes to prepare a place for us John 14:3 (Father house ( John 14:2). only his Father knows the time Mark 13:32 . Blessed are those servants, whom the lord when he cometh shall find watching: verily I say unto you, that he shall gird himself, and make them to sit down to meat, and will come forth and serve them.

Jn.14:20-21 At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you. He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.
Jn.17:20 That they all may be one; as thou, Father, art in me, and I in thee, that they also may be one in us: that the world may believe that thou hast sent me.
Rev.19:7-9 Let us be glad and rejoice, and give honour to him: for the marriage of the Lamb is come, and his wife hath made herself ready. And to her was granted that she should be arrayed in fine linen, clean and white: for the fine linen is the righteousness of saints. And he saith unto me, Write, Blessed are they which are called unto the marriage supper of the Lamb. And he saith unto me, These are the true sayings of God. (Rev.21:9)
Eph.5:25-27 Husbands, love your wives, even as Christ also loved the church, and gave himself for it; That he might sanctify and cleanse it with the washing of water by the word, That he might present it to himself a glorious church, not having spot, or wrinkle, or any such thing; but that it should be holy and without blemish.
Jn.3:29 He that hath the bride is the bridegroom: but the friend of the bridegroom, which standeth and heareth him, rejoiceth greatly because of the bridegroom's voice: this my joy therefore is fulfilled. (Jn.15:15)

Note: Deut. 22:22-24
If a man be found lying with a woman married to an husband, then they shall both of them die, both the man that lay with the woman, and the woman: so shalt thou put away evil from Israel. If a damsel that is a virgin be betrothed unto an husband, and a man find her in the city, and lie with her; Then ye shall bring them both out unto the gate of that city, and ye shall stone them with stones that they die; the damsel, because she cried not, being in the city; and the man, because he hath humbled his neighbour's wife: so thou shalt put away evil from among you.
(betrothed or married they carry the same respect and responsibility.)
John 15
I am the true vine, and my Father is the husbandman. Every branch in me that beareth not fruit he taketh away: and every branch that beareth fruit, he purgeth it, that it may bring forth more fruit. Now ye are clean through the word which I have spoken unto you. Abide in me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, except it abide in the vine; no more can ye, except ye abide in me. I am the vine, ye are the branches: He that abideth in me, and I in him, the same bringeth forth much fruit: for without me ye can do nothing. If a man abide not in me, he is cast forth as a branch, and is withered; and men gather them, and cast them into the fire, and they are burned. If ye abide in me, and my words abide in you, ye shall ask what ye will, and it shall be done unto you. Herein is my Father glorified, that ye bear much fruit; so shall ye be my disciples. (Jn.15:16/ Jn.6:44)

Matt.22:1-14
And Jesus answered and spake unto them again by parables, and said, The kingdom of heaven is like unto a certain king, which made a marriage for his son, And sent forth his servants to call them that were bidden to the wedding: and they would not come. Again, he sent forth other servants, saying, Tell them which are bidden, Behold, I have prepared my dinner: my oxen and my fatlings are killed, and all things are ready: come unto the marriage. But they made light of it, and went their ways, one to his farm, another to his merchandise: And the remnant took his servants, and entreated them spitefully, and slew them. But when the king heard thereof, he was wroth: and he sent forth his armies, and destroyed those murderers, and burned up their city. Then saith he to his servants, The wedding is ready, but they which were bidden were not worthy. Go ye therefore into the highways, and as many as ye shall find, bid to the marriage. So those servants went out into the highways, and gathered together all as many as they found, both bad and good: and the wedding was furnished with guests. And when the king came in to see the guests, he saw there a man which had not on a wedding garment: And he saith unto him, Friend, how camest thou in hither not having a wedding garment? And he was speechless. Then said the king to the servants, Bind him hand and foot, and take him away, and cast him into outer darkness, there shall be weeping and gnashing of teeth. For many are called, but few are chosen (1 Cor.11:27).
